Monsignor Bonner is very proud of its Football Alumni. Many have gone on to play in College and some went as far as the NFL.

Many have came back to coach the young football players just coming up. Our current head coach, Tom Oropeza, was a member of the 1994 Catholic League Championship football team. Click here for video highlights of that season

Michael DeLacy Class of 1991

Mike DeLacy Michael went on to play Lacrosse as a 4 year starter at Arizona State University.  His team was the Western AthleticConference Champions in Michael’s Junior year.  His position was Defenseman. Michael played Semi-professional Football in the Arizona Football League for the Tempe Warhawks.  They won the Arizona Football League Championship Game in 1997.  Michael was a two-time All Star.  His positions were Wide Receiver, and Kick Returner.

Michael was also active in the Hale Century Theatre in Mesa, Arizona in many lead roles. Michael was a Certified Personal Trainer for over 10 years. He was diagnosed with ALS in November 2002.Mike and teamates

Since his diagnoses, Michael has been visiting family, and taking those family members to visit different sports teams and their games:  Eagles Training Camps, Villanova Football, Miami Hurricanes Football - in FL, Lehigh Football, Florida State Football - in FL, U of Penn Football, Phillies Games, West Chester U Football, 2 Eagles Playoff Games, Sixers, and the Miami Dolphins in Miami.  Michael has also traveled quite a bit:  The Bahamas, South Beach FL, Cocoa Beach FL, Las Vegas NV, the Jersey Shore, and many trips to the Franklin Institute and the Phila. Art Museum.

Michael mostly enjoys Bonner Football, and the Friars Flag Football Tournament each year dedicated to “Tackle ALS”.  The team has made him Honorary Captain of the upcoming 2008 season.  Michael plans on attending many practices and games. Update 3/12/2009 - Monsignor Bonner has officially retired Mike's number - #1


Ken DeFeo Class of 1978

Ken DeFeoA 1978 Monsignor Bonner graduate, Ken DeFeo was an Honor Student, member of the Student Council and a star player on the Football, Baseball and Track Team. He was elected Captain of both Varsity Football and Baseball teams in his Senior year. In Football, Ken was selected as first team Philadelphia All-Catholic Offensive lineman for both his Junior and Senior Years, and was 1st Team All-Delco Offensive lineman in 1977. Ken received many awards and honors while in High School and College including The John Cappalletti Award, given to the outstanding student athlete.

After graduating High School, Ken attended the United States Naval Academy and then transferred to Villanova University where he was awarded a scholarship and was 1st string offensive lineman on the Football team. In 1981 Villanova dropped its Football program and Ken transferred to Memphis State University to continue his collegiate football career. He went on to be named Team Captain and Team MVP of the Football team. He received his college degree from Memphis in 1983 and went into the trucking industry, holding several managerial positions, first with Roadway and then Consolidated Freightways. He settled in the Nashville, Tenn. area.

Ken was blessed with many good qualities. His most distinquishable attribute was his deep faith and conviction in his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He touched so many lives in a positive way in different parts of the country and we are blessed for having known him. Sister Agnes of Bonner said it best "Kenny DeFeo had goodness written all over his Face". Ken died of a sudden heart attack on December 28, 1997. He was 37 years old


Mike Nolan Class of 2005

Mike Nolan class of 2004Mike grew up in St. George Parish in Glenolden and played football for St. Josephs in Collingdale. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner in 2005 with a 4.0 GPA.  Mike was president of the student council and participated in a lot of activities like MBTV, school plays, Community Service Corps, National Honor Society, and the St. Augustine Core.  He played offensive tackle and defensive tackle under both Mike "Stumpy" Coyne and Jim Carrigan.  In his senior season he was All-Catholic, All-Delco, and All-City (Philadelphia) as a defensive tackle. Mike was awarded a few awards like the defensive lineman of the year award for the team, the scholar athlete award for the team, the U.S. Marine Corps Athlete of the Year and the National Football Hall of Fame's scholar-athlete award for the Philadelphia chapter.

He now plays at Muhlenberg College (Mules) under coach Mike Donnelly, is a Captain and is entering his senior season.  He started at Defensive tackle as a Freshman and has played center since his sophomore season.  This season Mke will actually be playing both. He has been named All-centennial conference both his sophomore and junior seasons, and was recently named preseason All-AMerican by The Sporting News and by D3football.com.  Last season the Mules were 11-1 and were ranked 7th in the country.  This season they have been ranked as high as 7th once again.  Mike is a double major in Business Administration and Media and Communications.  Mike has been involved in both the school newspaper and the college radio station, hosting his own sports talk radio show.
